In the summer of 2018, Münster city center had to cope with the loss of a real music institution: JÖRGS CD-FORUM closed its doors forever after more than 30 years.
For more than half his life Jörg Tollkötter, founder and owner of JÖRGS CD-FORUM, has been selling music on all kinds of sound carriers, but above all on digital silver discs. The story began in 1984 in a small shop on Weserstraße, and in 1994 Tollkötter moved into the well-known shop in Alten Steinweg. In addition to selling CDs, Jörg's shop has been known for two other musical services in recent years - the sale of concert tickets and records. The AUDITORIUM Münster has continued these two business areas since August 1st, 2018.
"We are very pleased that with this step we can keep the sale of tickets and selected vinyl records in the city center of Münster", Matthias Kropp from AUDITORIUM explains the decision. “With our head office in Hamm, we can also look back on more than 30 years of retail history and therefore have a lot of understanding for the situation. When a small business has to, the inner city always loses diversity and thus its appeal, and we wanted to prevent that. In addition, high-quality hi-fi devices are primarily about enjoying music; ticket sales and a well-stocked vinyl assortment are an ideal addition to our range. "
In order to ensure a seamless and smooth transition, the AUDITORIUM Münster is also giving a long-term employee of JÖRGS CD-Forum a new professional home. Uwe Becker worked there for more than twenty years and helped to build up the ticket business. “In most cases, the tickets in the advance booking office are cheaper than online, and you don't have to worry about printing them out yourself, you can take the ticket with you right away. As of now, the AUDITORIUM Münster is connected to all major ticket providers and offers tickets for all major events in Germany. But smaller halls and events are not neglected either, after all, Münster itself offers a large number of locations with an exciting program. In the future, it is also planned to gradually expand the offer to include interesting local and regional events that are often not even available on the stock exchanges of the major providers.
Uwe's second great passion is records, which for him are the most beautiful way of listening to music. "The sound of vinyl is still something special, the big covers are beautiful and you have something real in your hand." With so much enthusiasm and experience, it should be easy for Uwe to build up and maintain the vinyl range at the AUDITORIUM Münster . It is important to find the right mix of popular bestsellers and interesting musical gems so that rummaging through the display is always fun.
