It is almost a truism, but it cannot be repeated often enough: The room acoustics have an enormous influence on the sound of the home hi-fi or home cinema system. But rarely do the components play in an acoustically ideal room. In an ideal world, every hi-fi fan would first assemble their dream system and then build the acoustically ideal room around it. But for the vast majority, this approach will be illusory.
