Noble sound in private: Focal Elegia headphones

Even if they have only been on the headphone market for a few years, the French manufacturer's Elear, Utopia and Clear are recognized as the best headphones in their respective classes. What they have in common is the so-called open construction without a sealing outer shell, which usually enables an open and spatial sound. The disadvantage is that you practically wear small speakers on your ears, so you can let the environment participate in your own music enjoyment at approximately the same volume.

The reverse is also true, of course: All the noises around you reach your ears almost unmuffled, so that real music enjoyment is only possible in a really quiet environment. But the days when you only used high-quality headphones in your own four walls are long gone. "Mobile high-end" has long been a global trend, expensive mobile players such as the models from Astell & Kern or portable high-end D / A converters such as Chord Mojo or Chord Hugo allow an extremely high sound quality on the go, which many cannot enjoy at home .

So it is only logical that Focal is introducing high-quality headphones that, on the one hand, effectively block out environmental noise and, on the other hand, protect the surroundings from forced exposure. Many of the technologies used were originally developed for the open models, such as the drivers with their M-shaped arched membrane made of a magnesium-aluminum alloy. However, these drivers have been optimized for mobile use, so that the Elegia has an impedance of just 35 ohms and can therefore be used with practically any mobile player and smartphone without any problems.

In addition, the developers have come up with a few tricks to circumvent the restrictions in the bass range that conventional closed headphones are subject to. The French succeeded in implementing a kind of internal bass reflex system in the smallest of spaces, so that the Elegia does not depend on its open brand colleagues in any frequency range.

As one can expect from the brand, the materials used and the processing quality are of the highest level. Perforated real leather on the headband meets high-tech microfiber and extremely comfortable memory foam in the ear pads. The construction is held together by aluminum components milled from solid. Despite the lavish variety of materials, the Elegia remains light enough for hours of listening to music at just 430 grams.

If you are looking for the best possible mobile music experience and a high-quality mobile DAC or player, you should definitely give the Focal Elegia an ear. For example in our stores in Hamm or Münster, where the Elegia is ready for demonstration from now on. We are looking forward to your visit!
