Revox Voxnet - (R) evolution from the multi-room pioneer

The Swiss company Revox has a long and rich history in the audio sector and has been listening to music in several rooms - new German: multiroom audio - for thirty years. Revox recently introduced Voxnet, a new system that is intended to revolutionize the enjoyment of music throughout the house. Voxnet should be nothing less than the best and easiest-to-use multiroom audio system in the world. That is certainly not a modest claim, but if something is Revox's business, then it is right. In addition to the traditionally excellent audio quality that one can simply expect from a Revox solution, Voxnet is characterized above all by its enormous flexibility and a completely new operating concept. The 'operating concept' is actually still too low, because Voxnet is completely redefining the logic of a multiroom system. Until now, when planning a multiroom audio solution, one or more sources were always based on, which could be called up in different listening zones or rooms as required. At the hardware level, nothing changes in this basic principle. Because you still need music sources, of course, and so that you can listen to music in a certain room you need speakers and an amplifier. But with further planning, the similarities already stop. Voxnet does not assume sources and listening zones for the control logic, but rather concentrates on different users and on the music and sources that the respective user usually uses or wants to use. In this way, the user not only follows the music currently being played in the various rooms, but also the entire source selection and the operating concept. All that is needed is the press of a button on the modern Gira wall control unit when entering a room.

Revox Voxnet - the first multiuser / multiroom system It goes without saying that control via an app on the tablet or smartphone is also possible. However, these devices also play other roles within a Voxnet installation if required. For example, they can be used to integrate various audio streaming services into the multiroom system. The user simply uses the app of the desired service as usual, playback then takes place via the Voxnet system in any desired room. Video services such as YouTube, Netflix or Amazon Prime can be integrated just as easily via the tablet. Small additional products, such as an AppleTV or Google Chromecast, make it possible to watch the video stream from the tablet on the large television. Voxnet can recognize this, automatically take over the audio playback and, if necessary, also dim the lights or close the blinds via a Gira Home Server. Revox has provided an extensive rights management and hierarchy so that the various users within a house do not get in each other's way during operation. In this way, for example, you can limit the access rights of children in the household to selected sources and even to certain times of the day.
Tablets and smartphones are not only used for control purposes in Voxnet, but also as sources for music streaming and video services. Of course, 'classic' music sources such as the good old CD can be easily integrated into Voxnet, the possibilities are virtually unlimited. This flexibility is made possible by the special infrastructure of a Voxnet system. The backbone is a Gigabit Ethernet installation through which all Voxnet communication and audio data are sent; This network also builds a bridge to other IP-based devices (tablets, smartphones, computers, etc.) in the network or WLAN. At the same time, however, the Voxnet room amplifiers also have classic electrical trigger inputs that can be used to trigger freely programmable actions, as well as inputs and outputs for infrared link. It goes without saying that existing Revox installations based on the Re: system M100 or M51 amplifiers, for example, can also be integrated with Voxnet.
Revox Voxnet combines the modern IP world with 'classic' multiroom technologies Revox has invested several years of development work in Voxnet and can therefore present a system from the start that will be very stable and, above all, extremely fast - the developers promise less latency times than 3 milliseconds! Conversely, this also means that music from any source can also be played absolutely synchronously in different rooms. Since Voxnet offers almost unlimited possibilities, Revox will rely on a detailed presentation and advice in selected specialist retailers from the start. The AUDITORIUM will of course be there and will probably be one of the first partners from February to show Revox Voxnet in Germany, both in the Gira Revox Studio in the Raumfabrik Münster and in the AUDITORIUM Hamm.
Voxnet premiere in February: The AUDITORIUM is one of the first locations in Germany to show the new Revox Voxnet in Hamm and in the Raumfabrik Münster (picture) If you are interested in a demonstration of the Revox Voxnet, you can make a note of us now and we will contact you as soon as the installation is ready for use. Or just follow us on Facebook, where we will also keep you up to date on the current state of affairs. The AUDITORIUM on Facebook.
