Giant TV: Samsung THE WALL

The annual size race of TV manufacturers could have come to a final conclusion at this year's CES in January. The THE WALL presented by Samsung is not only impressive today with a 146-inch (3.70 m) screen diagonal, which will be difficult to surpass with existing technologies. In addition, the giant display consists of individual, smaller tiles, so that, at least in theory, it shouldn't be a problem to create other screen sizes with this modular principle.

The only decisive question is what resolution the display has in the end. In the presented 146-inch version, Samsung already works with the 8K standard, i.e. with 7,680 x 4,320 pixels. Each one of them is represented by its own micro-LED, so that pixel-perfect brightness and color control is possible. For this, and for the extrapolation of all smaller resolutions, Samsung uses its own algorithm, which even uses artificial intelligence methods in order to be able to cope with the enormous volume of data quickly enough.

Otherwise, THE WALL should also prove to be a pretty smart TV. For the first setup, it should connect to the smartphone, for example to simplify the setting of Internet access. As part of Samsung's own SMART THINGS Cloud, THE WALL will be able to communicate with networked building technology; the BIXBY voice control from Samsung is available for convenient operation.

So far, neither the price nor a date for the market launch have been set, but Samsung has made it clear that THE WALL is not a carrier of ideas, but a real product that will actually be available to buy in the not too distant future . We'll keep you up to date!
