The AUDITORIUM on the go: SIM2

The home theater projectors from SIM2 combine fascinating design with the latest technology. Reason enough for the audience to make their way to Italy and the SIM2 production facility there. Far right: Sebastian Schwarte with fellow dealers in Pordenone / Italy Buying home theater components and especially entire cinema installations is a matter of trust. That is why we only offer products in the auditorium that we are convinced of and that deliver the best possible result in daily use. In order to be able to ensure this, our experts not only deal intensively with the respective products, we also maintain close contact with the manufacturers. This contact is important on the one hand to stay up to date on the latest technical developments, on the other hand we learn a lot about the ideas, philosophies and above all the people behind the products.

SIM2 production in Italy

At first glance, Pordenone may seem a little sleepy town in the Venetian hinterland, but with the headquarters of SIM2, it is a real high-tech location that has been producing fascinating home cinema projectors since 1995.

Production of the new CRYSTAL CUBE is running at full speed At the moment, capacities are being used to full capacity, especially with the new Domino CRYSTAL CUBE, which is set to start a new chapter for SIM2, not just in terms of design. But of course time does not stand still for the other product segments, so that projectors from the professional line and the various home theater series continue to roll off the assembly line - all with DLP technology. Since the beginning, the Italian developers have been relying on the technology with the ultra-fast moving micromirrors, either as a 3-chip solution in professional projectors and high-end projectors for the cinema at home, or as a 1-chip version in the something smaller models.

DLP technology

The DLP technology comes from Texas Instruments and has been continuously developed in recent years. With it it is possible to display brilliant pictures with bright, natural colors and high in-picture contrast. Even the light engines with only one DLP chip, in which the different colors are generated by means of a color wheel, set standards here; the top devices with their own chip for each of the three basic colors are unsurpassed in this regard. There are reasons why DLP projectors are used in most “digital cinema” cinemas.

DLP chips are waiting to be used Even if the DLP chips come from Texas Instruments (SIM2 uses the latest generation of 0.95-inch chips), the technology needs to be mastered, and only the construction of the ALPHAPATH Light developed by SIM2 itself Engine is a science in itself. That is why all SIM2 projectors are made in the ultra-modern factory in Pordenone, almost exclusively by hand and for the most part under clean room conditions (which also explains the fashionable choice of clothing in many of the pictures here). As an aside, the Sim2 technicians also conduct real basic research here, for example in the development of new non-reflective materials for reducing stray light, the "Triple Flash" technology, which with a refresh rate of 144 Hz supports DLP technology pushes the current limits and, among other things, ensures bright 3D images with razor-sharp movement display.

All in all, our visit to Pordenone was absolutely impressive. And not only because of the exciting factory tour, but above all because of the many committed and highly professional people we were able to get to know on site at Sim2.
